If we no longer told our stories, it would be the end of humanity.
Book Trailer
"Something was shifting and stirring throughout the once peaceful lands of Alehgania. Something ominous and unaccustomed.
On her far western edge, the ancient blue-misted Sheconahey mountains had always been a region of refuge and safety. A perfect home for the independent, resourceful souls living and farming amongst the steep ridges, sheltered coves and narrow, hidden hollows.
It was an isolated place, distant and remote from the rest of the world. Time was slowed down here and old ways lingered on, sustaining those who abided by them. There was a certain determined strength among the mountain people, as well as a surprising generosity and profound spiritual longing.
Yet, in some of the more remote hollows, there were also peculiar superstitions and rigidly held beliefs. Winding down through the generations they kept folks bound to unyielding notions of how things ought to be. Change and the unfamiliar were looked upon with a deeply inbred suspicion and distrust."

"That night as she lay in her blankets beneath the glitter of constellations and galaxies, her thoughts turned once again to her beloved Bonesetter. She drifted back in time, remembering when first she’d seen him. A wiry, silver haired man who’d taken her in, cared for her as his own, whose warmth and reassuring presence had made her feel so loved and safe.
Recalling the healer’s gentle hands, kind grey eyes and wistful smile she couldn’t repress a small whimper. Seer, bedded down nearby, rose and came to lay his black muzzle gently across her chest, dark eyes seeking her own. The warmth of the dogs concern momentarily melted the pain of bitterness and loss encroaching on her heart. She swallowed hard. The night was full of silence. Diamond bright stars glistened and fell. So too did her tears."

Perhaps stories began as a way to keep us from feeling so alone in the dark.
